14.2 ez on JRP.  My legs could feel yesterday's intervals but otherwise just another run in the bag.  Started out with a slow warm up.  Overall about 8:45 at 144 bpm.  80 degrees. 

As I type this I'm noticing the on screen add, "Stop wasting time with long boring cardio workouts that don't burn fat effectively....  Discover shocking fat-burning foods."  Dang, I should have skipped my run and eaten some "fat-burning foods" instead.  Or maybe it's a good thing I ran instead of eating "shocking food?"  Speaking of fat, I have a health check up (through my wife'w work) next week.  Anyone want to guess what they measure my body fat at?

My guess is 3%. Now, if you had eaten that "fat-burning food", it would be 4%. Can't wait to find out!

What body fat % is healthy for a man? I thought around 10% is healthy for an athletic man so that is where I am going to guess you are at.

So what is it? My bro-in-law had a 5% body fat in his early 40s, not sure what it is now that he's 49 and still running sub-3 marys.

My appointment is next Wednesday.

The health info given at these appointments says ideal for men is 15-18%. On various web sites I've read that minimum is 5%, essential is 4%, and marathoners (elite?) range from 1-8%.

I go to 2 of these checkups a year, one with my work, the other with my wife's work. My work uses a special scale to measure %fat. The other uses some sort of thing on my arm. Neither seems very accurate for oddball outliers. Thus when I've asked if I should be concerned with previous readings I've been told no based on visual observations... So much for technology. Last year about this time the machine said 2.8%. This year it is likely to be between 3% and 7% but the number won't be worth much. It is kind of fun to see the reaction of the tech that takes the reading though! There you have it, confirmation of my scrawniness. Just don't hold it against me...
