3 mile warm up.

6:55, 168bpm.

7:00, 176bpm.

2 mile cool down.

6:52 pace is a 2:59:59 marathon.  So I was 3 to 7 seconds off pace, BUT it was 83 degrees with a 26+ mph head wind (gusts to 33+) for about 1.7 of these 2 flat miles.  My heart rate for the second mile was a bit higher than I would have liked.  With cooler temps, no head wind, some drafting, race day magic, caffinated gels, dumb luck, and the pull of gravity down the hills at Saint George, I think I've got a shot at sub 3.

Oh man. That is a tough run after a tough weekend. Sorry to hear about your dog. Glad that he made it through it. That is a tough run in that wind out there. Yet you did very well on a flat road. Your looking very strong for that sub 3 bro. Hope that you will stick around long enough at the finish line for us 3:15s to come in so I can be one of the first to congratz you.:)

Mark, I don't know if I'll be recovered enough to be up and cheering you across the line, but at very least I'll be crawling around or lying around the finishers coral looking for you so that I can bask in your BQ glory! :)

Never underestimate dumb luck and the pull of gravity. Your going to crush 3 hours!!!!!

You will have so many more things going for you on Saturday than you did today (wind, temp, gravity). Just stick with Clyde and Logan and you will get your sub 3.

I'm happy to hear that you're going for it Mark. Way cool. And I like your list of positive factors for the race. (you've almost got me convinced that i can do it too!)

Sorry to hear about your dog, hope he does well now! We've had a similar situation and discussion about our 15 year old cat. Tough choices to make.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Cal, You are going to knock out that sub 3!

Our dog is now "out of the woods" and expected to live. :) Now I just have to pay off the credit card bill!
