This report is late because I've been extremely busy.  At work this week we hosted ~700 4th and 5th graders for Earth Science Week.  I've been busy at home getting things ready for our vacation that starts next week.  We will be gone for almost 4 weeks visiting friends in Turkey, Greece, and Spain.  We might also make it to Andorra and/or France.

This was the last race of the SLAM and it was a great way to end the series. The weather was as ideal as it gets. That tailwind at the start felt like the hand of God pushing me down the road.

For Ogden I trained well and pushed the pace for a course PR, put did not devastate myself.  At Utah Valley I deiced to throw caution to the wind and go for a fast time.  This proved to be a big mistake as the brutal headwind wiped me out and I finished slowed and devastated.  Utah Valley left me with no desire at Park City where I started slow and finished slower.  The plus to such a race plan is almost no recovery needed.  Based on an easy-ish 5k the previous week I figured I might be good for 3:10 if all went well.  I finished in 3:09.  I worked hard but recovery will be (was) no big deal as I did not devastate myself.  I feel like a ran smart and paced well.  This was my slowest St. George since 2008, but that's when I last ran the Slam.

It was great to end this season on an upbeat note.  I was great to see running friends but there were quite a few people I thought would be there that I never found.  Where was everyone hiding?

Now the BIG question is what to do next year?  I hate that so many races require entry so far in advance.  I want to rest and vacation, not think about what to race next year!   Maybe I'll do more trail running?

Let me know when you get back. I am going to try and talk you into letting me run some trails with you. Maybe Ry as well. He is really starting to enjoy them.

Happy birthday, couple days late! :)

So so so so happy you ran a smart and fantastic race meeting your goal and finishing the Slam in good fashion! You are awesome!

I can't believe I missed seeing you and your Hawaiian shirt!!!

Sounds like you're having a once in a lifetime kinda vacation for the next 4 weeks! HOW FUN and BEYOND COOL to visit all those countries and places! Lucky duck!!! :)

I went trail running today to celebrate my birthday! The colors, the mountain views, the blue sky and crisp air were absolutely glorious! We are so lucky to live so close to some gorgeous trails!!!
